HOYASALA KINGS
------------------------
Towards the end of Cholas - Kulottunga I the son-in-law of last chola king forced RAMANUJA to to take refuge in Mysore, at that time part of Hoyasala Kings. Times are troubled. An inscription by Kullotthuga III still supervised administration of Srirangam temple. Although the dynasty was recognised till Orissa, it was attacked by Orissa people, Eastern Gangas and PANDYAs supported by king of Ceylon .The temple of Srirangam was then occupied by Gangas for two years 1223-24, who disrupted the administration. Later Pandya Marverman Sundara I captured the Carnatic and in the nineth year of his reign his armies liberated the temple. Hoyasalas also taken interest in the temple and left many incriptions.Somaverma gifted a garden and a sala in third enclosure. Several endowments from Two brothers, who were generals of Ramantha (1263-97). One of the prettiest Venugopala shrine inside the temple dates nack to this era.
