Legend says - Brahma wanted to worship Lord of all the Lords as his daily routine. He did penance for long time and SRI RANGA VIMANA appeared before him. Later when the life of Brahma is going to be over, he gave this vimana to SUN god for his daily worship. Ikshvaku Kings, who are descendants of SURYA, inherited this vimana. Lord RAMA, the hero of Ramayana and also incarnation of Lord Vishnu himself worshipped the vimana for a long time in Ayodhya. After the war with Ravana and conquering of Lanka, Vibhishana was made king of Lanka. During celebrations at Ayodhya Vibhishana requested the VIMANA for his daily worship. Rama gave the vimana to Vibhishana. While he was taking this to Lanka, Lord Ganesha came as rescue and saved this VIMANA to be installed in this sacred Land (India) on the banks of Kaveri river. Later this place witnessed many Hindu Kings, Alwars, Acharyas, Krishnadevaraya, Islamic rulers, the British and now Government of India. The temple jewelery was richest ever one can imagine, but looted by many rulers. The VAISHNAVA traditions, lectures of BHAGAVAD RAMANUJA, reforms are part of temple heritage. |
