ANDAL - Incarnation of BHU MAHA LAKSHMI
One day VISHNU CHITTA (PERIYALWAR) heard the cry of a baby in his TULSI garden. He found a child and brought her inside his house. He had no family. But the child is so divine looking and beautiful, that she is none other than MAHA LAKASHMI. With the help of other families in the village he brought up the child and named her GODA. She used to hear stories of Lord VISHNU (VATAPATHRA SAI) and KRISHNA. GODA used to help her father for making the flower garlands to Lord in the temple. In course of time she became scholar in SANSKRIT, TAMIL and a great devotee of KRISHNA.

GODA was preparing garlands for the Lord. However she wanted the garlands to be best looking when Lord wears them. So she used to put on the garlands on her and look in a well to see her own image and after satisfying she used to send the garlands to the temple. PERIYALWAR was unaware of this. And one day he discovered a hair in the garland and was terribly nervous. ONE apacharam (mistake) happened, a used garland was offered to LORD. He discovered GODA was using them before sending to Lord. There after he refused to take her services. BUT LORD RANGANATHA CLARIFIED TO HIM IN A DREAM - HE LIKED THE GARLANDS FROM GODA AND GODA IS BHU-MAHA-LAKSHMI AND HE SHOULD MARRY HER TO HIM. Nothing happens without intent from LORD. GODA became AANDAL and LORD RANGANATHA himself came and married her. ANDAL wrote 30 PASURAMS as means to attain LORD - TIRUPPAVAI and it is extremely beautiful work both for meaning and listening. ANDAL is present along with RANGANATHA or VISHNU in all temples of south.
