LEGEND ON PARVATHI KALYANAM - Parvathi Parameswara Kalyanam is JAGAT Kalyanam. UNION of PRAKRUTI and PURUSHA. ALL the jeevas are interested in the event. It has tremendous significance for TIME hence forth. Parvathi had taken three births to attain Lord Shiva and finally got married to Him. Lord Shiva and Parvathi have TWO sons - Ganesha and Kumara. The divine marriage PARVATHI KALYANAM is a boon to every one. All the creatures with RISHI, DEVA, DAANAVA, and GANDHARVA wanted to witness the wedding and assembled over KAILAS (HIMALAYAS). DEVARISHI BRIHASPATHI was the organizer of the function.Present INDIA was known as Jambu Dweepam (island) floating in the midst of the ocean. When all the weight gathered over HIMALAYAS (everyone attending the wedding), the LAND started to tilt into the ocean leaving every one confused. Only solution was to shift half the guests to SOUTH. This was not acceptable to the GUESTS. DEVARISHI suggested THE GREAT SAINT AGASTHYA alone could balance the whole weight and he should move to south. AGASTHYA, a great devotee of Lord Siva, was angry with this and cursed BRIHASPATHI. The GURU in turn cursed AGASTHYA that the language being designed by AGASTHYA will loose prominence and unfit for divine usage. AT THIS POINT LORD VISHNU INTERVENED and requested AGASTHYA MUNI to go to South. Lord Vishnu gave him a boon - Although he is at the far end of the island he can see PARVATHI Kalyanam LIVE. Also Lord VISHNU blessed AGASTHYA that he will be remembered forever for his language DRAVIDAM (Now Tamil) and also the NITHYASURIs will take birth in SREERANGAM and sing PASURAMS on the Lord in AGASTHYA' s language (DRAVIDAM) only.
