MADHURA KAVI ALWAR - INCARNATION OF VINATHEYA (Devine bird of the Lord)
This Alwar was born at Thirukkolur. He was a great scholar of Tamil and Sanskrit. He went on pilgrimage to north Ayodhya and was attracted to stay there as it was Lord Rama's birth place. But a bright southern star appeared in his VISION and guided him to the feet of NAMMALWAR. After brief conversation with NAMMALWAR, Madhurakavi became his disciple. When Nammalwar left to paramapadam, Madurakavi was blessed with a golden vigraham (idol) to which he performed nithya (daily) puja. He even ignored Lord Srimannarayana relative to NAMMALWAR. Lord himself said BHAGAVATHA Bhakti rather than BHAGAVAD Bhakthi.

MADHURAKAVI said - I do not know anything other than NAMMALWAR (Maran) who rendered in Tamil the essense of all VEDAS. After his first encounter with NAMMALWAR he stayed with him all along and compiled all Pasurams of NAMMALWAR. He also wrote 11 pasurams "Kanninun siruththambu", which tell about ACHARYA BHAKTI.
