Ayodhya is considered to be one of the 7 Muktistalams of India. Ayodhya is believed to be a component of Vaikuntham, given to Manu by Vishnu, and installed on the banks of the Sarayu
.
Ayodhya is birth place of Rama (timeless Indian epic Ramayana), who is incarnation of Lord Maha Vishu. He is a perfect human form of Lord himself.
There are several temples and shrines related to Rama Sita Lakshmana and Hanuman in the ancient town of Ayodhya.

(NAIMISARANYAM).
Naimisaranyam, in all the great epics of India, by Vyasa Muni and Suka Muni - is considered as a manifestation of Vishnu and held in reverence and worship. The forest is considered to have been the abode of 60000 sages. Naimisaranyam is located at the junction of the roads from Sitapur and Khairabad.
Vayu Purana and the Bhrammanda Purana state that that Brahma sent out a manomaya chakram after worshipping Shiva, which stopped moving after reaching Naimisaranya as its rim shattered. Sages following this bright wheel settled at Naimisaranya so did several of the sacred thirthams (rivers).
